Moth Dancing (2019)

performance, video

 developed with Kaya Erdinç

Inspired by Isobel’s great-grandfather’s moth book and time spent with amateur moth spotters, this dance piece explores the movement of moths. Intruiged by the practice of sugaring trees and waiting for moths to fall into the beam of the spotter’s torch, a dance was created with the shadows of hands and scattered sugar. Here the audience is drawn not only to the movement of the hands but the gaps in between the movement - the anticipation of hoping to see something that may or not be there.
