The Distance Between a Tongue and Spoon
(2020)

.
The Distance Between a Tongue and a Spoon explores the grief and co-dependency contained by the bodies of the mother and child during weaning. Comprising of two sculpted pewter spoons and accompanying texts printed on tracing paper, each element of the work is reliant on its counterpart. Each spoon is linked to a text, which explores the phenomenon from a different perspective. The texts can be read independently, or lain over one another to form a third text.
